I know I have a while before I can get one of these, but still, I like to think about these things. So I have been studying Tolkien’s languages; many of you are familiar with Tengwar. It’s the form of Elvish that is on the One Ring, and throughout the books and movies. It is the most common written form, and people usually get this form tattooed on their bodies if they wish to use Elvish.

Anyways, I have been looking at the less common from of Elvish known as Sarati. According to Tolkien’s mythology, the Sarati alphabet was invented by Rumil of Tirion in Valinor. When Feanor created the later Tengwar script, more ubiquitous both in Middle-earth and in real life, he modeled it after Sarati. Unlike Tengwar and Tolkien’s other alphabet, used mainly by the dwarves, the Cirth, sarati is written in several different directions, though the most prominent is from top to bottom. Others are left to right, right to left, and boustrophedon. If you aren’t a Tolkien fan, none of that probably made sense, even if you are, it still probably didn’t! Lol it took me about an hour to understand everything about the heritage of the language.

So my idea is this: I want something unique, something that nobody does. I want something that will pay respect to Tolkien and his genius. His talent and imagination is inspiring to me. I am wanting two quotes by Tolkien that will go down my spine. Two columns, because I’ll write these from top to bottom. Because there is so many different ways to write it, there are no internet translators of this language, so I’ll have to translate the quotes myself, which is proving to be incredibly difficult mind you!

The two quotes I have are these:

1. “Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.”

2. “…in the end the shadow was only a small and passing thing; there was light and high beauty forever beyond its reach.”

Obviously, the first one will be shorter than the other but I think it will look awesome. Here is an example of the Sarati language. The bar that runs along the left side of the writing I read was optional, Tolkien used it sometimes, and other times he didn’t. I personally like it better without.

I was also thinking about having the right side, mirror to the left side. Like so, the bottom one:

So basically I think it will look amazingly awesome and I’m really excited! I will spend the next year, translating my quotes into Sarati, since I’m pretty sure it will take me that long lol. I also plan on getting “love as I was first loved” in Hebrew on the back of my ankle.

Been Awhile Eh?

It’s been like 6 years since I blogged. Ok, only like a year and half. But still! Long time. Anyway, so much has happened. The most important I think is where I’m at post high school decision making wise. By the grace of God I have been placed in an amazing church with a FANTASTIC worship arts team. The Lord has grown me in Him, and in the gift of song He has given me in the past year. I’m doing things I NEVER thought I would be doing. Leading worship… what?? I never would have thought I’d be where I am right now. I am so incredibly blessed and thankful for the leaders and friends in my life that are helping me grow every day. And even more thankful to my Jesus who makes it all possible. He makes ALL things work together for my good. Amazing! Ok, anyway, along the lines of being involved in worship, I was called into full time ministry this past summer camp. I know worship is where I am suppose to be, and I love it! I have been juggling many different options for after high school. They may look familiar to a lot of you.

1. Anthem School of Ministry – if you attend Youth Church or 242, you have probably thought about doing Anthem at one point in time. It’s just a given. For me however, I was unsure if this is where I am suppose to be. As of now, I don’t feel called to do this program.

2. Ministry Institute in Puyallup – If you went to the Breakthrough conference, or went to summer camp, you know about MI. basically it’s an Anthem LIKE program that takes place at Foursquare church in Puyallup. I am still praying about whether or not this is what I am to do after graduation.

3. Transfer with my AA from SPSCC (thanks to running start I’ll have that degree upon HS graduation) to Northwest University in Kirkland. – My struggle with this, is that I know I want to go to school here, and I know I probably will, it’s just determining WHEN. Right away, or do I do something in between graduation and college? Who knows. Jesus. Still prayin about this one too.

4. Oceans Edge School of Worship – This is my most recent addition to the list, and the most promising. I was telling my amazing friend Stephanie Nielson about 2 weeks ago how I wanted to go somewhere crazy after graduation. Do something that was scary, but exciting, something nobody would see coming, something I wouldn’t even think of doing. Something specifically on the East Coast. That night I went home and I told my mom about my dream, and she showed me this school. It’s in Ft. Lauderdale Florida and is a 1 year long worship school. It’s crazy, and on the East Coast. I am of course still praying about this option, and ALL the other ones as well. Please be praying for me as I reach the end of my junior year… only one more summer left till I need to know what I’m going to do. Favor favor favor is what I need! I am SO excited to see where my Jesus takes me, and to see how He makes me more and more the woman of God he saw from the beginning.

the song You Found Me by The Fray has been playing in my head for quite some time now. After this weekend…which was incredible by the way. God is moving in our midst. Cardboard testimonies made me ball my face off, and youth service rocked my world. Anyway, it wasn’t till after I got home that I realized that I was such a hypocrite. From the outside I bet it looks like I have it all together, my walk with God is amazing and my life is AWESOME! well no. Last night i hit rock bottom. I realized that I had put things before Christ in my life, I had made other things my everything. It was such a hard thing for me to admit because who wants to admit that they’ve been screwing up for like 9 months?? no one. So ya… I was asking the question last night while I was just crying in my room… God, where you been? Where were you when everything was falling apart? All i needed was a call… it never came….

It doesn’t matter how long I was waiting, or what I had to go through…the fact is that He found me. And I’m so glad. It’s gonna be a hard and long process to get to a place where I feel FOUND and SECURE, but i gotta do it.

Here in Washingotn we rarely have a white Christmas. And I’m not complaining! I might be the only person you know to hate the poofy white stuff, but I don’t care… It’s mushy, squshy, and wet. No matter how many clothes you wear while you’re outside you’re always STILL cold. And once the snow seeps into your clothing…it’s all over. You’re chilled to the bone. The only good thing about snow is the stuff that comes with it. School cancellations for example. And hot cocoa, Christmas in general! As much as I hate snow, I love to sled and attempt snow boarding. Well, Christmas is in what? 3 days? Stoked! I love this time of year. I just wish that 2 1/2 feet of snow didn’t have to come with it…

$400 shoes? what.

Saturday I went with my family to Bellvue Square. I sware I saw Bill Gates, but my mom assured me it wasn’t him. Anyway, I love shopping, and this particular shopping trip was very fun beacause it was all the girls in my local family. The first store we went into was Nordstroms! I wasn’t planning on buying anything considering with my 200 dollars I could probably walk out with a toilet seat cover and half a shoe lace. At the most. But there was this lady in the shoe section FLIIPING out about these $400 shoes. They were like Salvatore Ferragamo…something high class like that. I dont know about you, but when I go into Nordstroms I try and act like I should be there, like I have the money I’m just planning on buying a plasma screen later so I cant buy those shoes at the moment. That’s just me though. But this lady, wow. I thought she was going to ask for the manager or something! you’d think that she would just blow it off…but no. $400 shoes! thats crazy! it is. but like I said, I’m buying a plasma later..I’ll probably come back for the shoes. So we left the always eventful Nordstroms and headed to a series of random stores I have never heard of, probably because they are famous designers or something. Then, we had Orange Julius. I freaked ’cause I thought they went out of business, guess not! You know what I hate, that Abercrombie & Fitch has revealing torso images of male’s on their bags…KIDDING. My grandma was deeply offended though. I bought some jeans and on the bag was a lovely man with a 6-pack and his pants were a little saggy…in the front. My grandma asked me,” do any of your boy friends wear their pants that low?” I said,” yes, but generally they wear shirts, also they aren’t on a bag advirtising a popular clothing store, as far as i know at least.” She then went on to complain about how my jeans looked like they just came out of a paper shreader, the music in the store was too loud and she was tired. Luckily, we left after that. All in all, it was a good day!

So tonight I am with my grandparents and my cousins as well as my sister decorating gingerbread houses! I am the oldest grandchild so I, being me, was like oh I’m to old for gingerbread houses…guess not! I had a blast making them with my 5 and 8 year old cousins and 10 year old sister. Even though I ate most of my icing, and my walls caved in half way. Anyway, listening to Christmas music and drinking hot chocolate never gets old. Talking Cards. I love them. My grandpa just turned like oh 60 something…and he got a talking card from one of my great aunts. Here it is.

moral of the story, you’re never to old to make gingerbread houses and laugh at stupid cards.
